Fake policeman ‘caged’ 8 years
A 25-year-old senior high school graduate who posed as a policeman has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Koforidua Circuit Court.

Prince Baah pleaded guilty to three counts of impersonation, stealing and deceit of a public officer and was convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Ms Mercy Addei Kotei.
Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge said she took into consideration the fact that the convict had pleaded guilty to his crimes and did not waste the court’s time.
Proposal and arrest
The prosecution told the court that Baah was busted by the Eastern Regional Police Command in Koforidua following a tip-off from a lady Baah had proposed to during the recent Eastern Regional Trade Fair.
According to the prosecution, Baah stole GH¢20 from a lady and she reported his conduct to another police officer after Baah had presented himself as a policeman.
Baah wore a police uniform for about one month and when he was arrested, he claimed that he was a policeman from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, on holidays in Koforidua.
“A search conducted in his room led to the discovery of sets of police uniforms, police crest, a tag bearing the name Prince Baah with identification number 50721 and a pair of long black boots,” it said.
Also found in the room was a a bayonet, a specimen charge sheet, a police belt with an ammunition pouch containing two body sprays which resembled pepper spray, as well as a police torch.
The prosecution said during interrogation, Baah claimed that he got some of the items from some policemen stationed in Kumasi and Effiduase but bought the others at Asawase in Kumasi.
