Even if Satan appeals Woyome verdict, I will support it - Kweku Baako

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has backed the decision of the Attorney-General to appeal an Accra High Court ruling that acquitted and discharged Businessman Alfred Agbesi  Woyome on two counts of defrauding by false pretence and causing financial loss to the state in the GH₵51.2 million judgement debt saga.

Speaking on Accra-based radio station, Peace FM, Wednesday, Mr Baako expressed shock as to how Mr Woyome managed to walk away with a ‘not guilty’ verdict.

He said, the presiding judge, Mr Justice John Ajet-Nasam, appeared to have ignored some vital points that would have convicted Woyome of the crime.

“…you can say that the prosecution was sloppy, shoddy and all that but I can tell you that the evidence that was put before that judge and the closing address by the state, no matter the sloppiness, the the verdict should not have gone in favour of the accused."

Mr Baako added that an appeal of the ruling was the best thing in the interest of the country, adding that the conflict of interest claims Mr Woyome raised against Attorney-General Mrs Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong should be totally ignored.

“Woyome is just wasting our ears and trying to muddy the waters and throw in some spanner into the process. I don’t trust him…nothing he says is of value to me.

“As far as I’m concerned that judgement must be subjected to appeal, even if it is the devil or satan who will initiate the appeal I will support it. I think it will be in the interest of justice.” he said.
