The remains of Emmanuel Adjei-Gyimah, 54, formerly of the Engineering Department of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), have been laid to rest at the Achimota Cemetery.
This was after a burial, memorial and thanksgiving service held at the Insanniya Senior High School Park at Kasoa in the Central Region.
The event was attended by the management and staff of the GCGL, led by the Managing Director, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, and members of the Kasoa and Dansoman Districts of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church.
The body was given a full Adventist Youth (AY) honour before it was conveyed to the cemetery.
Tribute
The GCGL in a tribute said, “Adjei-Gyimah was well loved and admired for his enduring commitment to work and his warm reception to his colleagues”.
“Adjei-Gyimah worked with the company for 28 years, starting as a journeyman in 1987 when he was employed. By dint of hard work he rose through the ranks and held such positions as senior technical assistant, chief technical assistant, supervisor and senior supervisor,” the tribute read on behalf of the GCGL by Mr Emmanuel Arthur of the Corporate Communications Office said.
The children of the late Adjei-Gyimah described their father as God-fearing, caring and very hardworking, adding that he was disciplined and corrected them when they went wrong.
“He always went a long way to sacrifice everything to make sure we were always fine. He used to tell us that he would not always be there for us so we should make good use of the opportunity we have,” Benjamin Opoku-Gyimah and Ellen Adjei-Gyimah said.
In her tribute, Mrs Helen Gyimah, widow of Adjei-Gyimah, said every year she spent with her husband was an adventure.
Mr Adjei-Gyimah, she said, never craved anybody’s praise “as long as you believed that you were doing the right thing and even in the face of utmost danger, you never relented in speaking the truth”.
Tributes from Adjei-Gyimah’s siblings, in-laws, Prince Emmanuel SDA Church, the Kasoa West District of the SDA Church and the Dansoman SDA Church said he was loving and dedicated to church activities.
Sermon
In a sermon, the Kasoa West District Pastor of the SDA Church, Ebow Bonnie, urged Ghanaians to give their lives to Christ and do what was right.
Mr Adjei-Gyimah was born on May 20,1961.
He attended the Larterbiokorshie Primary and Middle Mixed School, the Accra Technical Training College and the Accra Polytechnic. He left behind a wife and two children.
