Eight to receive role model awards

Eight individuals and organisations have been nominated for the 2015 Role Model Awards slated for October 23, 2015 in Accra.

The awards seek to nurture new leaders to propel the socio-economic transformation in Ghana and other countries on the continent.

Nominees

The nominees for the male category are Mr Kwame Sefa Kayi, host of the Kokrokoo morning show on Peace FM, Dr Kofi Osei-Kusi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Osei Kusi Foundation and Nana Kwame Bediako, CEO of Pretonia City and Wonda Estates Limited.

Ms Nadia Ismaila, CEO of British International School, and Ms Dentaa Amoateng, CEO of the Ghana United Kingdom-Based Achievement Awards (GUBA), have been nominated for the female category.

Three organisations, namely World Vision International, Sasso Limited and Marie Stopes International are the nominees for the organisation category.

Honorary awards

In addition, the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Major Albert Don Chebe (retd), and a former captain of the Black Stars, Mr Stephen Appiah have been nominated for honorary awards.

The award ceremony, the seventh in the series, is organised by the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC), a youth-oriented non-governmental organisation.
It is on the theme: “Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders for Africa’s Transformation.”

A statement signed by the President and Founder of YPYC, Mr Andy Osei Okrah, said the organisation had strived to present winners who reflected the best of industry standards and capable of standing competition on the global stage.

It said the annual awards scheme had reignited the ‘can do spirit’ in the youth.
The statement said the organisation was keen on going international to establish Ghana as a friendly investment destination full of skilled youthful labour comparable to that anywhere in the world.
