The management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Tema Region took its customer engagement drive to the Community One market last Thursday (Oct 29) to interact with consumers and address concerns about electricity services.
The outreach formed part of activities marking Customer Service Month in 2026 and provided an opportunity for customers to engage directly with ECG officials on issues affecting them.
It was also part of ECG's efforts to bring customer service closer to consumers, promote public awareness and provide an avenue for addressing concerns about electricity supply and related services.
Staff of the company during the outreach interacted and provided clarification on procedures for obtaining new or separate electricity meters, difficulties loading credit onto prepaid meters and persistent blinking of meters even when they had sufficient credit.
The engagement also offered ECG an opportunity to listen to customers, provide information on its services and strengthen its relationship with the public.
Service delivery
The Revenue Protection Manager, Zita Kyei-Gyamfi who represented the Tema Regional General Manager, Jonathan K. Adjabeng said the exercise was intended to demonstrate the company's appreciation of its customers and reaffirm its commitment to improving service delivery.
She said ECG remained committed to providing safe, reliable and quality electricity supply to its customers.
Ms Kyei-Gyamfi also used the occasion to caution the public against illegal electricity connections, warning that the practice could undermine the stability of power distribution.
She explained that illegal connections placed additional pressure on transformers, potentially affecting their performance and the quality of electricity supply to communities.
She, therefore, appealed to individuals involved in the practice to desist, warning that those found culpable would face prosecution.
The Manager for Services Marketing at ECG's Head Office, Patricia Brefo, led a team from the Communications Directorate to join the Tema Regional Communications Unit for the exercise.
