Dr Orleans-Lindsay inducted as first chancellor of CCTU
A business mogul, Dr James Condua Orleans Lindsay has been inducted as the first chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University pledging to transform the university into one of the best universities in the country.
At an investiture ceremony at the university last Thursday, Dr Orleans-Lindsay said he envisioned a university that fostered innovation research and scholarship and promoted an inclusive and diverse academic environment and partnered with industry.

Again, he said, his tenure would work towards promoting students centered education and holistic development while modelling excellence in teaching, learning and consultancy services.
Dr Orleans-Lindsay said he would use his experience in national exposure to connect the institution to many institutions globally to give the institution global relevance and leverage.
“I am a business mogul. I have interests in real estate and agriculture. I hold many other business portfolios. I therefore pledge to use all my experience to assist the TVET department to create wealth and self-reliance to free the government of certain financial pressures,” he added.
He observed that as an entrepreneur his dream of creating entrepreneurs aligned with the vision of the university saying achieving their goals would not be a difficult thing at all.
He gave the assurance that before his five-year tenure as chancellor, he would finance the construction of the Orleans-Lindsay students’ hostel and ensure the completion of the university’s proposed 40th anniversary students hostel became a reality.
The occasion was used to cut the sod for two hostel projects, the 40th anniversary students' hostel, and the Orleans-Lindsay students hostel to which he gave GH¢300,000 in support of the Orleans-Linsday students hostel.
Dr Orleans-Lindsay said while the responsibility that came with the role could not be underestimated considering the many infrastructural challenges of the university, he stressed that the was optimistic that with effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders such challenges were surmountable adding “together we are going the change the face of CCTU.
He called for support to achieve the goals of the university saying he could not do it alone.
Dr Orleans Lindsay said the vision of CCTU was to be a leader in technological innovations with a reputation for clean and green energy technologies adding that its mandate was to promote technology and its applied science and to promote research, and entrepreneurship and collaborate with industry to address societal needs and pledged to mandate of university.
Dr Orleans Lindsay said work with the governing council to support the already robust governance and administrative structures of the university and ensure the recruitment of highly qualified faculty members and staff and develop cutting edge and market driven and academic programmes.
He stated pledged to uphold high standards of academic excellence and culture of innovation and accessibility and affordability of programmes for all Ghanaians.
He paid tribute to the visionaries of the university whose courage perseverance, dedication and hard, work had brought the university this far saying he would build on the solid the foundation laid.
