Diaspora citizens to provide mechanised borehole for Jachie

The Jachie Diaspora Association has made arrangements to construct a centralised mechanised borehole to supply potable water to every home in the community.

Currently, only private individuals own such type of facility in the community, impacting access to potable water among the average population.
The start of the project is, however, challenged because of the COVID-19 and its consequences across the world.

Debt

Meanwhile, the Jachiehene, Nana Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, and the leadership of the association will have to settle a huge backlog of outstanding electricity bill to make power available to pump the water.

Members of the association are said to be unable to converge for their regular meetings to take the necessary steps because of the closure of borders of nations, including Ghana’s.

However, two executive members of the association, James Baffour Amoateng and Kwame Kusi, who, together with a few, got to Ghana before the borders were closed, said they would take measures to trigger the necessary discussions for the project to take off.

Donation

They disclosed this to the media at Jachie yesterday when the association presented 200 bags of rice, 180 creates of eggs and boxes of cooking oil to be distributed to the less privileged and vulnerable groups in the town, which is located in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region.

The items were valued at GH¢30,000, and were expected to be followed by further donations by the group to support the vulnerable in the area.

Mr Baffour Amoateng said plans were afoot to solve some major needs and provide basic amenities to the people.

He said the Jachiehene, who has been helpful in implementing some projects by the association, had also pledged personal support to make the town bounce back to life after the coronavirus pandemic.

The chief, who together with the queenmother, Nana Afia Konadu, received the items, expressed appreciation to the association, and promised that every one of the vulnerable would be served.

He said the palace was working together with the district assembly to make sure that the people were not shortchanged.
