Deduako chief gets minister’s praise for putting subjects’ welfare first

A Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, has commended the chief of Deduako, a farming community in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti for personally funding development projects in his community.

The development projects include the tarring of about two kilometers of road from Deduako to link the Ejisu-Kuntanase main road with his own resources, the construction of a school block and lately the construction of a mechanized water system with storage capacity of 3,000 gallons of water.

The Deputy Minister made the remark when he cut the tape to commission a new water system for the Deduako community.

Beneficiaries
The new water system which cost GhȻ50,000 is expected to serve 1,000 members of the community who depend on the only bore hole in the community, queuing hours to fetch water.

Commendation
Dr Osei Adutwum, who is the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe was full of praise for the chief for using his own resources to promote the development of his people instead of attending his personal needs.

He called on other chiefs in the district and beyond to emulate the good example of the Deduako chief to bring development to the people instead of always waiting for the government to do everything for them.

The Chief of Deduako, Nana Agyei Panin II, said there was the need for people in leadership positions to take keen interest in the welfare of their people instead of only seeking their personal gains.

He appealed to other chiefs to ensure that resources attached to their stools are used to benefit their people as they are not meant for the purchasing of plush vehicles and mansions while the people lack basic social amenities.

He pledged to construct a new 20-seater water closet facility by next year to help improve the sanitation conditions in the community.
