CSA Director-General chairs inaugural Arab-Africa Cybersecurity Roundtable in Cairo

A new era of inter-regional cybersecurity cooperation has been launched in Cairo, with Ghana playing a central role in bridging Africa and the Arab world to tackle the growing threat of cybercrime and digital insecurity.

The inaugural Arab-Africa Cybersecurity Roundtable, chaired by Ghana's Cyber Security Authority Director-General and Africa Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA) Chair, Divine Selase Agbeti, brought together cybersecurity authorities and policymakers from both regions to discuss threat intelligence sharing, cyber diplomacy, critical infrastructure protection, workforce development, and digital trust.

The roundtable, held on the margins of the Cyber and Information Security Exhibition and Conference (CAISEC) 2026, marked a milestone for South-South cooperation and signalled Africa's growing role in global cybersecurity governance.

Participants agreed to deepen institutional collaboration and develop practical mechanisms for sustained cooperation between both regions, recognising that cyber threats do not respect borders and require coordinated responses.

Mr. Agbeti, who also delivered a keynote address at the conference, called for stronger regional collaboration, investment in capacity development, and coordinated responses to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. He highlighted Ghana's progress in cybersecurity regulation, critical information infrastructure protection, and incident management, urging African countries to move beyond isolated national efforts.

"Cybersecurity is no longer a technical issue confined to IT departments. It is a strategic imperative that cuts across every aspect of our national life," he said. "As African nations rapidly digitise, we must ensure that our digital transformation is secure, resilient, and trustworthy."

The conference also saw Mr. Agbeti receive a Special Achievement Award for his contribution to cybersecurity policy, resilience, capacity building, and international cooperation across Ghana and Africa.
