COVID-19: Upper East records 10 more cases

The Upper East Region has recorded 10 more confirmed cases of the Coronavirus(COVID-19) bringing the region's total number of confirmed cases to 18.

The breakdown is as follows: in the Bolgatanga Municipality, five cases were confirmed while in the Bawku Municipality, one case was confirmed. The Kassena Nankana Municipality had two cases while the Bawku West and Pusiga districts recorded one confirmed case each.

A statement signed by the Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Winfred Ofosu on Monday, April 27, 2020, and released to the media on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, indicated that the laboratory feedback was received on April 27, 2020.

The statement further explained that “steps have been initiated to communicate the results to the affected persons and to immediately identify all contacts of the new cases for immediate quarantine".

It noted that efforts are also underway “to move all the confirmed cases to the treatment centre".

The statement commended the public for cooperating with the health authorities while it also appealed to residents to avoid stigmatizing COVID-19 patients, contacts and relatives “as we are all susceptible to the disease".
