COVID-19: Ghana case count increases to 6,964

Ghana's Coronavirus case count has increased by 156 new cases to 6,964.

The country has also recorded 2,097 recoveries from the illness.

Addressing a press briefing today in Accra, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said the new cases were recorded in five of the 16 regions.

"As of 24th May 2020 a total of about 156 new cases have been recorded in Ghana and this goes to show the new trend of showing much fewer cases," he said.

"The cases were identified in five out of the 16 regions. Greater Accra contributing about 72 new cases Western Region 57, Central Region 13 new cases, Volta Region reported an increase of 10 new cases, and Ashanti recording probably the lowest figure ever in the Region of 4 new cases in a day."

Greater Accra Region – 4,908

Ashanti Region – 1,066

Western Region – 334

Central Region – 319

Eastern Region – 106

Western North Region – 62

Volta Region – 57

Northern Region – 36

Oti Region – 26

Upper East Region – 26

Upper West Region – 21

North East Region – 2

Savannah Region – 1
