Court adjourns case involving Bishop Obinim
The prosecution handling the case involving the Head Pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has asked the Kaneshie District Court to give it more time to complete its investigations into the case.
Obinim has been charged with the offence of publishing false news and forgery of documents, contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), respectively.

The facts of the case were not made known at court.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Sylvester Asare, informed the court yesterday that the prosecution had advanced in its investigation but needed more time to complete its findings.
The court, presided over by Ms Rosemond Dodua Agyiri, adjourned the case to July 20 to allow the police time to complete their investigations.

Arrest
Obinim was picked up by the police on an arrest warrant issued by the court on May 19, this year.
A statement signed and issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ms Juliana Obeng, the Head of Public Affairs at the CID, said Obinim was sent to the court and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000, with three sureties, one to be justified.
According to the statement, Obinim was also under investigation for other offences levelled against him.
Brush with the law
This is not the first time that Obinim has had a brush with the law.
In 2018, he, together with two of his pastors, stood trial at the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly assaulting his adopted children — a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy — in the presence of his congregation.
They were, in September of that same year, subsequently fined a total of GH¢12,000 for the assault on the two teenagers at a church service held in August 2016.
Again in August 2016, Obinim was arrested by the Tema Regional Police for allegedly defrauding a man of GH¢11.6 million.
