Presenting the items, the General Manager, Mr Kwadwo Obeng Aboagye, said the company was concerned about the welfare of the people in the community and decided "to present these items to show our support to the government in its quest to deal with the threat of coronavirus and to enable the Techiman Municipal Assembly to respond to the many requests of such items by the people in this area.”

Appreciation

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr John Kofi Donyina, who received the items, expressed his gratitude to the company, and said the items would enable the assembly to resource the communities that did not have such items.

He appealed to companies located within the municipality to emulate the gesture of Ghana Nuts Company Limited and help the assembly to enable it to reach out to a lot more communities.

"We are honoured to have this donation from Ghana Nuts Limited and I must say this is a timely gesture because it will enable us to provide same to communities that do not have hand washing items," he said.

Preventive measures

The Municipal Director of Health, Mrs Florence Iddrisa, said the health directorate had been educating the communities on the preventive measures and also screening those who were entering the municipality for the virus.

Aside from the screening, she said the directorate had also been compiling their data and tracing them to their houses for follow-ups, all in a bid to ensure that if any case was picked up, “the person is quickly isolated and put on treatment to ensure that we don’t spread the virus.”

She was grateful to the Ghana Nuts Company Limited for the items, which she said would enhance the preventive service being provided by the directorate.
