The project, initiated by Tex Styles Ghana Limited, producers of  GTP, Woodin and Nustyle brands of fabric, is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr Kofi Boateng, who cut the sod for work to begin, said the project would provide a  better eating place for the schoolchildren, who hitherto had been eating in the open under trees, and also  provide them a decent place of convenience.

According to Mr Boateng, the school was within the community in which Tex Styles Ghana operates, adding that  the projects was motivated by what the company had observed over the years as inappropriate eating arrangement for the children and was keen to correct it.

He said the project was part of the company’s social responsibility programme, and that the canteen was one of the first of several other forms of  assistance the company had planned to extend to schools and institutions within Tema and beyond.

Mr Boateng urged residents of Tema and the public in general to continue patronising products made  by Tex Styles Ghana.

A representative of the Tema Metro Office of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Abraham Fletcher, congratulated Tex Styles Ghana on the gesture and added that the project would have a positive impact on the lives of the schoolchildren.
