Cocoa farmer butchers wife and hangs himself at Adansi Fumso

A 36-year-old cocoa farmer at Awudikrom near Fumso in the Adansi North District of Ashanti, has butchered his wife and hanged himself for reasons the police are yet to unravel.

The cocoa farmer, Samuel Bosoka a.k.a. Larweh Awudi, 36, had been married to Ablah Kakra, 32, for over 12 years and they had four children, with the eldest being a 12year-old girl.

According to the Adansi North District Police Commander, Superintendent, Mr Yaw Asubonteng, at about 5am on Monday April 23, 2018, Kakra was preparing palm oil for sale as a usual routine.

The 12-year-old daughter who was indoors with her three other siblings who were asleep at the time of the incident, told the police she heard the mother screaming and when she came out, she saw the father chasing the mother around with a machete.

When neighbours came to the scene, they saw Kakra bleeding profusely and rushed to her aid whilst Bosoka reportedly took to his heels and fled into the bush.

The neighbours carried Kakra to New Edubiase for medical attention, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The matter was reported to the police at Fumso and Kakra’s body was deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

A search party later found Bosoka hanging on a mango tree in a cocoa farm.

The Police Commander said the incident was surprising to the neighbours because they have never witnessed any disagreement between the couple.

Investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, Supt Asubonteng said.
