Child and Associates to continue caring for women, children

The Child and Associates, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has pledged its continuous commitment to support women and children in their health matters to ensure a healthy society.

Since its inception in the country 10 years ago, the association, through the operation of its clinic, has offered free health care to a number of Ghanaian women and children suffering from various ailments.

The Executive Director of the association, Dr Juliette Tuakli, made this known at the launch of activities marking the 10th anniversary celebration of the organisation in Accra.

 

Treatment for HIV/AIDS patients 

Dr Tuakli stated that the clinic had also been offering free treatment and counselling for people suffering from HIV and AIDS across the West African sub-region, and would continue to do so to save more lives.

“At our clinics, we do not only treat, but teach and cure our patients so that they won’t report with the same ailments again next time,” she said.

She stated that the association had put in place the necessary measures to continuously support Ghanaians and West Africans with proper health care.

Emphasising the important role of children in society, he said the association would ensure that it devoted a lot of time to them, adding, “Child and Associates will continue to advocate, support and treat children for many more years to come.”

 

Activities for celebration 

According to Dr Tuakli, activities, including the renovation of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Special School, programmes to help prevent child abuse, events to mark World Immunisation Week and Children’s Day, had been earmarked for the celebration.

She also indicated that a lot of education and sensitisation programmes would be carried out to ensure that people lived in good health.

The paediatrician expressed appreciation to the people of Ghana for the numerous support since the commencement of the organisation’s work in the country.
