The items included 10 children’s bed, seven baby cots, three bedside lockers, 20 cardiac tables and 30 foldable chairs.

The items were handed over to the ward last Wednesday as part of the foundation’s social responsibility.

Support

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of the EAF, Mr Ezekiel Ansah, said the foundation would continue to support the ward.

“God has given me the talent and opportunity to give back to society and I just cannot sit back and watch. This is just the initial stage and we are looking forward to do more things with the children’s department,” he said.

According to him, his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Cole, a retired nurse who worked for more than 30 years, encouraged him to support children at the hospital.

American football clinic

An American footballer who plays for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL), Mr Ansah said he was organising a camp to train the youth who were interested in learning how to play American football in order to give them the opportunity to explore their talent.

“It is not about what you are doing right or wrong, we live in a world where you need the opportunity to get to where you want to be and that is what we are doing,” he said.

He explained that there would be a classroom session to teach the rules and techniques of the game, as well as a field session at the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon for the youth to practice,” he said.

For her part, the Chairperson of the EAF, Ms Jane Cole, said the foundation, which was inaugurated in March 2017, was passionate about giving back to society.

“The EAF strongly believes that with the right support and opportunity, we can steer our youth on the right path and help them realise that they are part of the answer to their own successes,” she said.

“Ezekiel acknowledges the importance of health care, especially of children, and he is liaising with the Korle Bu Emergency Children’s Ward to provide equipment and basic items required to effectively provide care to children,” she added.

Appreciation

The Head of Clinical Services at the Department of Child Health at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Victoria May Adabayeri, expressed gratitude to the EAF for its kind gesture.

She assured the foundation that the Emergency Children’s Ward was going to take good care of the equipment for the benefit of children.
