Cassandra Twum Ampofo nominated Communications Personality of the Year

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo has been nominated for Communications Personality of the Year in this year’s National Communications Awards.

The award ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Africa Trade House on Saturday, November 7, 2020 is being organised by RADComm Communications Ltd in partnership with Ecobank Ghana.

The event designed to champion communications, organisational and national development, seeks to celebrate and reward excellent communications companies, teams and individuals across the country.

“The National Communications Awards also promises to serve as a springboard for many who aspire to reach higher heights with their works, efforts and contribution in the media communications industry in Ghana.

The nomination letter signed by the Project Manager of the awards, Mr Richmond Anim Damoah gave the assurance that the event would strictly observe all the COVID-19 safety protocols.

The letter said the nominees for the various categories would be selected based on votes by their fans and admirers.

Voting starts on Thursday, September 10, 2020 and could be done on all networks via SMS while those outside the country could vote via online on www.votedigital.net.

Ms Twum Ampofo is vying for the award alongside the Deputy Director of Communications of the National Communications Authority, Ms Olivia Okailey Okai, Dr Isaac Tandoh of the Institute of Public Relations, and the Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications of UBA Ghana Ltd, Efo Kwame Dzakpasu.

Early this year, Ms Twum Ampofo was named as one of the top ten women in PR GH 2019 and was recently honoured with a citation by the Greater Accra PR officer of the GES for changing the face of PR in the GES.

As the first female to head the PR Unit at the GES Headquarters, Cassandra, an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations has ably handled the hot seat with effective and efficient communications skills to disseminate the policies of the service, endearing herself to the hearts of many in the sector.

Ms Twum Ampofo holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Cape Coast, Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies (with specialisation in Public Relations) from the Christian Service University College, a diploma in Journalism from the Institute of Business Management and Journalism in Kumasi.

She also obtained her Post Sec teachers certificate from Holy Child College, Takoradi, and joined the GES in 2004.
