Boy, 15, arrested for killing girl, 13, over alleged sex
A 15-year-old boy resident at Tafo Pankrono in the Kumasi metropolis has been remanded in a juvenile home by the Ashtown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly strangling a 13-year-old girl to death.

The accused is alleged to have strangled Afia Amanfo, the younger sister of his elder brother’s wife,when a misunderstanding ensued between them.
Afia was found having bruises on her neck, with her dress partly removed in the room where she, the accused and their siblings lived.
The boy’s plea was not taken, as the police awaited the autopsy report from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to determine the cause of death.
He is to reappear in court today.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Charles Domaban, said preliminary investigations by the police had indicated that there had been a problem between the accused and Afia.
According to him, about 7 p.m. on January 13, 2014, the two had a confrontation over a key when they were returning home.
Hours after the two had entered the room, the accused came out to inform his elder brother that Afia was dying.
However, when the brother, whose name was not immediately made available by the police, and the accused went into the room, they realised that Afia had passed on.
The family, who were immediately informed of the incident, made a report to the police.
According to Chief Supt Domaban, when the police got to the scene, they realised that there had been a scuffle in the room, with the furniture and other items in the room scattered all over the place.
He said the screen of a television had been damaged, while bruises were found around the neck of the deceased.
That, he said, prompted the police to suspect foul play, for which reason they arrested the boy for allegedly murdering the girl.
He, however, could not establish if the accused had sex with Afia before he strangled her.
That, he said, “will be determined by the autopsy”.
The body of the girl has been deposited in a morgue.
