The boy is said to have threatened his playmates, Patrick Okyere and Andrew Ntsiful, both aged 10, that he could shoot them, while they were playing in his father’s compound.

He is said to have entered his father’s room, taken his loaded single-barreled gun and shot them.

The boys were rushed to the Ajumako District Government Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.

Police

The boy is being held in a juvenile cell for killing his mates, while his father, Kwesi Adu, is in police grip for negligence and exposing a juvenile to a dangerous weapon.

According to the Ajumako District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Prosper Ahijah, preliminary police investigations had revealed that the licence for the gun used in the incident had expired.

He also said the docket on the case would be sent to the Attorney-General’s Office after investigations had been completed.

He indicated that although the boy was a juvenile, he could be charged with murder, since he was above 13.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue.
