Bosomtwe Assembly hands over scholarship to 38 students
The Bosomtwe District Assembly has handed over one-year scholarship letters to 38 tertiary students from various universities across the country.
Each of the beneficiary students received different amounts due to the differences in the tuition fees from the various tertiary institutions in the country.

The one-year scholarship which is renewable subject to conduct, performance and other factors is to support them to pursue their courses of study so that they will help enhance the nation’s manpower needs.
A total of GH¢73,930 was disbursed as the district’s quota of scholarship package from the scholarship secretariat to support the development of education in the district and the rest of the country.
The beneficiaries are from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kessben University, Christian Service University and University of Ghana, among others.
The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Mr Joseph Kwasi Asuming, assured the beneficiaries that the government was passionate about the development of education in the country hence the huge investment it was making in the sector.
He urged all the beneficiaries to take their lessons seriously to merit the purpose of giving them the support.
The DCE reminded the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously at all times to ensure that they were able to qualify for the following year’s quota of the scholarship.
Mr Asuming announced that the assembly had been doing everything possible to ensure that they provided the right educational infrastructure to support the provision of quality education in the district and the nation as a whole.
Background
The national scholarship secretariat as part of the effort to ensure that people in the various districts, municipalities and metropolitan assemblies get support towards acquisition of tertiary education has instituted the scheme to decentralise scholarships in the country.
This has led to the various assemblies submitting a list of candidates to the scholarship secretariat for approval before those who qualified are presented with their letters confirming the award of scholarships to them.
The amounts for the various candidates are not paid to the students in person but are paid into the school accounts of the students while the student just presents the endorsed letter to their school authorities as evidence of their scholarship payment.
In the Bosomtwe District, a total of 57 students applied for the package but after the screening, 38, representing two-thirds of the requisite number, benefited from the district.
