Bethel Presby raises funds for Graphic Needy Fund

The Minister in charge of the Bethel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Akweteman in Accra, Reverend Joseph K.L.M. Ansa, yesterday led his congregation to raise GH¢400 for the Graphic Needy Trust Fund, a social support fund of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL).

Rev. Ansa, who urged members of the congregation to give towards a worthy cause, commended the GCGL for embarking on such fundraising to support the needy and underprivileged in the society.

He prayed for those who have to partner the Graphic Needy Fund to extend a helping hand to those who did not have in society to enable them to access quality healthcare.

Rev. Ansa addressed his congregation when the needy fund team joined them to worship and solicit financial support from them to help the underprivileged in society to access health care.

The Bethel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana becomes the third congregation of the Presbyterian Church to rally support for the fund since its launch at the Adabraka Presbyterian Church three weeks ago.

Last week, it was the Living Bread Congregation at Tantra Hill that raised GH¢1,300 for the fund.

The Needy fund

The fund, with the motto: “A million good Samaritans: Save a life,” seeks to mobilise funds to help the needy in society access quality health.

It has become necessary for the social support fund of the GCGL to seek partnership following the huge numbers of requests from the public, particularly the needy, for support to seek medical care for life-threatening sicknesses such as cancer and hole-in-heart.

Presenting the cash to the team, Rev. Ansa said it was his prayer more people would respond to the appeal to enable the team to raise sufficient money for those who had nowhere to turn to.

Response

Responding, the acting Chair of the fund, Mrs Kyerewaa Asiamah Wiafe, thanked the congregation for their kind gesture and assured them that their donation would be put to the intended use.

She said the fund was inundated with appeals from members of the public for support to enable them to survive life-threatening illnesses and that explained the decision by the company to turn to churches, institutions, private sector players and individuals for partnership.

New month

It was a Sunday of thanksgiving for members of the congregation. They were led by Rev. Ansa to enter into spontaneous prayers thanking God for the new month of September and asking for His blessing and protection.

They prayed for God to reveal all the hidden good things to them, asking the Holy Ghost fire to put the enemies at bay before breaking into songs of worship and praises.
