Bedum to have community SHS

Breman Bedum in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District in the Central Region is to benefit from the Community Day Senior High Schools programme being pursued by the government.

Land for the project has been released by the chief of the town and the Benkumhene of the Breman Traditional Area, Nana Kweku Esuon.  

 

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah told the Daily Graphic in an interview that the necessary documentation on the land had been completed and the project was going through the tender process for the contract to be awarded for a take-off.

Mrs Aboah commended the chiefs and people for releasing land for the project and urged them to cooperate with the contractor, when the project takes off, so it could be completed on schedule.

She said the Presbyterian Basic School at Breman Amanfopong had also been provided with a new classroom block and a teacher quarters with a $2million Chinese grant.

Mrs Aboah said she had championed the development of the constituency in her capacity as the District Chief Executive and continued to do so as the MP.

Development projects

She said a number of kindergarten facilities had also been provided at Ankaase, Eshiem and Nyamebekyere while the Catholic Girls School at Breman Asikuma, the Kuntanase Catholic School the district assembly schools at Eshiem and Anhwiam had also been rehabilitated.

Mrs Aboah said the constituency which had 15 communities hooked to the national electricity grid in 1996, now had about 60 communities enjoying power supply.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     CHIPS compounds

She said six communities had also benefited from the Community Health Implementation Planning System (CHIPS) compounds which had been equipped and staffed, while a new laboratory had been completed for the Brakwa Health Centre.

She said the disease control clinic at Breman Asikuma had been converted to a health centre and provided with a generator.

A new community centre, a clinic and a micro finance centre have also been completed at Kokoso while another one has been constructed at Fosuansa.  A number of roads including the Asikuma-Amafopong road, have been rehabilitated. Other roads receiving attention are the Asikuma-Odoben-Nyakrom and some feeder ones.
