The Awutu Senya District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Sampson Abbey Armah, disclosed this during the second ordinary meeting of the first session of the Awutu Senya District Assembly at Awutu Beraku.

Education

In the area of education, he said nine out of 21 classroom blocks under construction, had been completed.

Others are the construction of a four-unit pre-school at Bawjiase D/A, a two-storey girls’ dormitory at Obrachire SHS and a three-unit classroom block at Zakarikope SDA JHS.

He stated that the district would take advantage of the reintroduction of the National Youth Employment programme through community teaching assistants to establish kindergartens in more communities to put an end to children walking for several kilometres to nearby communities to attend school.

According to Mr Armah, the assembly  had earmarked GH¢31,272.00 as scholarship to 79 brilliant, needy students.

Health, roads and electricity

On health, he said the assembly was working towards increasing the facilities at all the health centres, especially at Senya and Bawjiase.

He said the assembly had acquired a parcel of land at Akrampah for the purpose of constructing a district hospital.

Mr Armah said there was much improvement on roads which included Bawjiase-Ayensuako, Bawjiase-Okwampah, Bawjiase-Amotron, Adawukwa-Ofajato, Bewuanum-Akuful Krodua and Papase 1-Ahentia in the district.

The rest were Odotom-Kwei, Kao Bonney-Jei Krodua and Bontrase-Dasum while other roads had been awarded on contract.

Mr Armah said the district was largely connected to the national grid with about 97 per cent coverage, noting that mapping was being carried out at the remaining communities.

On sanitation, he indicated that the assembly had instituted the door-to-door waste collection which would be rolled out in Senya Beraku, Awutu Beraku, Bawjiase and Papase.
