Some students of the Awudome Senior High School (AWUSCO) at Awudome-Tsito in the Ho West District in the Volta Region were rushed to hospitals in Ho early yesterday for suspected food poisoning.
The students had severe headache and difficulty with breathing.
Six of the students were sent to the Ho Municipal Hospital, while others were rushed to the Volta Regional Hospital, Ho.
The number of affected students could not be ascertained but they were said to be about 20.
Dr Michael Kwashie, a medical officer at the Ho Municipal Hospital, confirmed that the hospital was treating some AWUSCO students for suspected food poisoning.
A mistress of the school who refused to give her name said some of the students started complaining of abdominal pain, difficulty in breathing and headache after breakfast yesterday.
Some were rushed to the hospital in taxis but an ambulance was called in when the number of affected students increased.
