The deceased, Nana Edusa Gyapong II, was changing a punctured tyre on his vehicle on the outskirts of New Site, a suburb of Atwima Koforidua, when he was shot. He died instantly.

The suspect was allegedly seen at the scene at the time of the incident and is also known to have had a protracted dispute with the slain chief.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Abuakwa Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Joseph Nyaaba, said Nana Nkrumah had been arrested and would be arraigned.

According to some people in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, there were several land disputes in the area and it was suspected that might have been the reason for the killing of the chief.

This was corroborated by the spokesperson for the family of the deceased, who had earlier alluded to the fact that the chief was murdered as a result of land disputes.
