Adusei, polled 3, 673 votes to shrug off the competition from the older Peter Anarfi Mensah, the current Ashanti Regional minister, who polled 3,020 votes.

It was one of the keenly contested elections in the region with Mr Anarfi Mensah, having the support of some big guns of the party and some traditional rulers who wanted him to win.

Even though the election was peaceful and calm, there was a large security presence at the polls in mostly the hinterlands.

While the polling centres within the Tepa township had unarmed policemen providing security, those in the smaller towns and communities had armed police and military patrolling the constituency.

The constituency was one out of the 14 constituencies in the country in which voting had to be rescheduled due to inadequate ballots and late arrival of voting materials.
