Anas exposé: Judicial Council sack 19 staff
The Judicial Council has sacked 19 Judicial Service workers including court registrars and interpreters found to have been complicit in the judicial corruption scandal.

The affected staff are said to have taken bribes of various sums to help influence the outcomes of cases at the courts.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Judicial Secretary Justice Alex Opoku Acheampong.
According to the statement, the decision to sack the Judicial Service staff was informed by recommendations by disciplinary committees constituted by the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood, to investigate the conduct of staff cited in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas of Tiger Eye PI petition.
The statement released Thursday by the Judicial Council said a total of 10 court registrars and messengers in courts across the country – Offinso, Cape Coast and Bibiani – were “dismissed”.
Also 19 staff were “removed from office” for holding ex-parte discussions with representatives of Tiger Eye PI and facilitating meetings between the said representatives and the judges.
The statement named the circuit court registrar at Teshie Nungua, the district court registrar at Kasoa, the principal interpreter at Madina and six others as those removed from office.
Five others were also reprimanded for accepting “thank-you gifts” while three people have been exonerated and restored.
A two-year in-depth investigation by undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposed shady deals of some Judges and judicial service staff who took bribes to compromise cases at various courts.
Anas petitioned the Chief Justice to impeach the implicated judges as well as sack over a 100 Judicial Service staff.
Scores of both high court and lower court judges have also been booted out following the revelation.
