The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Madam Adriana Kandilige, who made the call, however, urged the board members to exercise that power judiciously as punishment was meant to reform and not to destroy.

Madam Kandilige stressed the need for the  Students Representative Council (SRC) of the institution to be involved in issues that affected the student body.

“We must trust that with your experience and high standards, decisions  taken will serve the best interest of the staff and the school as a whole,” she emphasised.

The regional director, therefore, urged the board and the PTA to be up to the task of improving discipline and addressing the issue of occultism if there were traces of it in the school.

In an address read on his behalf, the Birim South District Director of Education, Nana Baffour Mensah Takyi, said the government was putting in place measures to ensure that the standard of education was not compromised for anything in the school.

He said the assembly had through the government’s intervention, undertaken numerous development projects in the school including the rehabilitation of an 18-unit classroom block, the construction of a 12-unit classroom block, boys’ and girls’ dormitory blocks and staff bungalows which were at various levels of construction.

He advised parents to attach special importance to the education of their children.

The headmaster of the school, Mr Frank Yao Dzamaklu, expressed concern about inadequate infrastructure in the school and appealed to stakeholders to help address the problem.

The outgoing board chairperson of the school, Madam Ama Korantemaa, mentioned the facilitatory role her board played to get the school a Nissan Urvan bus, a boarding facility and a new administration block.

The new 13-member board of governors comprise Mr Kweku Agyei Badu (Director General’s representative), Madam Adriana Kandilige, Madam Diana Carolline Gyimah, Mr Frank Yao Dzimaklu, Mr Stephen Kwabena Antwi, Very Rev. James Nti Bediako, Mr Sampson Boadi, Phelimon Kpodo, Mr George Ato Agyei, Dr Julius Kofi Hasan, Mr Cromwell Darko and Mr Edward Abrokwah.
