Akufo-Addo cuts sod for 'greater Kumasi town roads' project
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Friday cut the sod for the construction of some roads in Kumasi, dubbed, facelift of “greater Kumasi town roads.”
Also to be constructed under the project is the Lake Bosmotwe road extension.

This is to help ease traffic congestion in the central business district of Kumasi by offloading traffic to the ring road that goes around the city of Kumasi.
The project includes the asphaltic overlay of 150 kilometres (km), resealing of 145 km and rehabilitation and reconstruction of 180 km of roads within Kumasi and its environs.
The works would also tackle reconstruction and rehabilitation of 100km of roads, safety works including roundabout improvement, pedestrian footbridges and walkways.
Key to the project is the dualization of the Lake Bosomtwi road and construction of the Sissai River Storm drain, the construction of transport terminal and drains.
The projects, most of which is expected to be completed in 24 months are being financed by the French Development Agency [AFD], the government of Ghana and the Ghana Road Fund.
President Akufo-Addo said the current nature of most of the Kumasi roads did not befit its status as the commercial hub of the sub-region.
President Akufo-Addo also hinted that by the end of the year the Accra-Kumasi high way would be dualized as well as the Sofoline-Sunyani main road.
He said his administration will fix all roads in the country including undertaking a number of interchanges with one in Tamale.
President Akufo Addo assured residents whose properties would be affected during the exercise of adequate compensation and called for effective monitoring to ensure value for money.
The Minister of Roads, Akwasi Amoako Atta said the start of the projects has delayed because the current government inherited 'huge' debt and needed to properly analyse and manage it before engaging fresh contractors.
The minister said also to be covered is the 40km Anwia Nkwanta - Obuasi road, the Suame roundabout interchange linking Mampong as well as other satellite towns.
