Ceremony

At a ceremony to present the items to the beneficiary communities at Ajumako, the district capital, the Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Mr Andrews Kojo Duodo, who handed over the items on behalf of the MP, said that the MP had already provided similar items worth GH¢₵6,000 to the District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service to better place health facilities in dealing with the deadly virus.

He noted that aside health facilities and other public institutions, the MP thought it wise to decentralise the distribution of the sanitary items to the various communities in the district to ensure that the residents were prepared to combat the pandemic.

Sanitation-related diseases

He stated that the gesture was not only to fight the COVID-19 pandemic but to also encourage the people to adhere to personal hygiene at all times to tackle other sanitation-related diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea.

“There is no doubt that if the people in the district were healthy, they would be able to make significant individual contributions towards the growth and transformation of the area for the benefit of all,” he stated.

Adhere to hygiene protocols

He advised residents in the beneficiary communities to put the items received to good use and observe personal hygiene by regularly washing their hands under running water and applying the hand sanitisers as often as possible to curtail the spread of the virus into the district.
Gratitude

On behalf of the five traditional areas in the district, the Paramount Chief of Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Osabarima Otsibu VI, expressed gratitude to the MP for the timely support towards dealing with the pandemic in the area.

He expressed optimism that the items donated would go a long way to help the constituents to protect themselves against the pandemic.

For her part, the Assembly member for Ajumako Besease Electoral Area, Madam Evelyn Gormon, said that a lot of funds had been invested in the items and therefore admonished the people to make good use of them.
