Ahafo: Police arrest farmer for allegedly shooting wife

The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old farmer, Isaac Kwame, for allegedly gunning down his 37-year-old wife, Gifty Yeboah, at Three Brothers' cottage, a farming community near Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.

The unfortunate incident is said to have happened on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at about 7:00 am.

According to the police, the suspect fled to a nearby bush, after realising he had killed his own daughter.

The Police is yet to establish what led to his actions.

Police briefing

The Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Isaac Kwame Loh told Graphic Online that the Police had information that, Kwame, an indigene of Three Brothers' Cottage near Sankore had shot his wife.

He said when the police rushed to the crime scene, the suspect fled into the nearby bush with the gun suspected to have been used to commit the crime.

ASP Loh said when the police arrived at the crime scene, they found the woman lying in a pool of blood in a prone position.

He said when the police examined the body, they found a deep cut on the back of the deceased's shoulder, suspected to be a gunshot wound.

According to ASP Loh the police also found 3BB and AA cartridges at the crime scene, explaining that the suspect who fled into the bush was later arrested after the police mounted a search.

He said the suspect was arrested with the gun suspected to have been used to commit the crime, adding that he was currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

ASP Loh said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Goaso Government Hospital pending autopsy and preservation.
