Efforts to improve sanitation and waste management in Obuasi have received a boost following AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine’s supply of 400 waste bins and two waste collection tricycles valued at approximately GH¢660,000.
The items were presented to the Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East Municipal assemblies, respectively, to strengthen waste collection, promote responsible disposal and reduce indiscriminate dumping.
The intervention formed part of AGA's Keeping Obuasi Clean Campaign (KOCC), launched in 2019, and aligned with the company’s 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP), which prioritises sanitation, water and strategic partnerships for sustainable community development.
The Communications Superintendent of AGA, Richard Ansong, emphasised that sanitation remained a key component of the company’s community development agenda and stressed the importance of collaboration among the Mine, assemblies and residents.
