Afram Plains: Two police robbery suspects escape from custody

The two Police officers who were arrested Tuesday night for staging a robbery attack on a bank bullion van have reportedly escaped from Police custody.

They were said to have escaped at Nkawkaw whilst being transported to Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.

The vehicle conveying them was said to have stopped to refill at a fuel station and that it was at that point that the officers who were said to be in handcuffs managed to escape, sources have hinted Graphic Online.

The two were arrested Tuesday night after an attack on the bullion van which led to the death of the vehicle driver.

Another Police officer who was escorting the vehicle was also wounded.

The incident was said to have happened at Maame Krobo in the Affram Plains South district of the Eastern region.

The bullion van had no money in it at the time of the attack.
