They beat Opoku Ware School in Kumasi and Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast in the 2016 final which was held on Wednesday at the University of Ghana Business School auditorium.

After 76 contests, Adisadel College came tops with 44 points, followed by Opoku Ware and Mfantsipim with 38 and 37 points respectively.

136 schools from the ten regions of Ghana competed for this year’s edition of the NSMQ.

However, 27 of the schools, described as seeded schools, by virtue of having qualified to the quarter final stage in the 2015 edition of the competition did not compete at the preliminary stage.

Thus, 109 schools competed at the preliminary stage. These schools were winners of the various regional competitions which were organised across the country in January/February 2016.

In the course of the competition, 81 schools progressed to the one-eighth stage. They were made up of the seeded schools from the 2015 edition and 54 schools from the preliminary stage of the 2016 edition.

At the one-eighth stage, 27 schools made it to the quarter finals.

The semi-finals of the quiz which was held on Monday saw a stiff competition between Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Mfantsimpim School also in Cape Coast and St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School in Accra.

Other schools which competed at the semi-finals included Accra Academy, Kumasi Secondary Technical School, Adisadel College, Kumasi High School, Opoku Ware School and St. Hubert Mission Seminary School.

The 2016 edition of the NSMQ gained a lot of interest on social media with the schools' alumni showing a lot of support for their schools.
