Adama Latse is Ga Mantse — Dzaasetse

The Ga Dzaasetse, Nii Yaotey Oto-Ga, has stated that King Tackie Adama Latse II is the true and current Ga Mantse

He has, therefore, urged the public to treat publications in both print and electronic media on the introduction of a new Ga Mantse with contempt.

“King Tackie Adama Latse II, the Ga Mantse, was nominated, elected and enstooled Ga Mantse to succeed the late Boni Nii Amugi in accordance with customs, traditions, conventions and usages of the Ga state in 2011,” a statement signed by Nii Oto-ga said.

New chief

Last Saturday, another claimant to the stool was inducted under tight police protection as the President of the Ga Traditional Council.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, known in private life as Dr Kelvin Nii Tackie, was inducted at the Ga Mantse Palace in the presence of some major chiefs under the paramountcy.

The ceremony was graced by Otublohun Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki, who until the event was the acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, and the Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor.

Statement

But according to the statement by Nii Oto-Ga, the then acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, forwarded King Tackie Adama Latse II’s Chieftaincy Declaration Forms to the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa for onward submission to the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi.

The statement said “King Tackie Adama Latse II, after his registration in 2015, has been the Ga Mantse and a member of the Grater Accra Regional House of Chiefs residing in the Ga Mantse Palace until 2017” when the Ga Mantse Palace was closed and he was prevented from entering the palace.

Allegation

It alleged that on October 20, 2017, armed policemen and soldiers from the regional security council removed the Ga Mantse from the Ga Royal Stool House and planted Dr Kelvin Tackie in the house.

The statement said Kelvin Tackie had earlier been vetted and rejected by the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase in preference for King Tackie Adama Latse II.

“We have been battling the authorities of the Greater Accra Region since October 20, 2017 to have the Ga Mantse’s Palace and the Stool House re-opened to allow him to perform his functions as Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council until Saturday, May 9, 2020 when the regional minister had his choice of Ga Mantse purportedly installed. As law-abiding citizens, we would take appropriate action,” it said.
