Acting IGP calls for media cooperation to facilitate law enforcement

Mr Alhassan expressed delight at the response of the editors and explained the importance of the media in the work of the police.

He gave an assurance that the police would deal with all stakeholders, especially the media, towards achieving the objectives of the service.

He asked the public to act as witnesses and serve as advocates of the good things about the police.

In a renewed effort to strengthen the relationship between the media and the police, Mr Alhassan said, “From now onwards we and the media are partners in development.”

The Ghana Police Service, he said, needed the media to propagate its objectives, achievements and challenges, adding, “That is the way to build the police that we deserve. We pledge to communicate to the public, through the media, developments in the police.”

He solicited the support of the public in making breakthroughs in the fight against crime and pledged “to continue good programmes and good practices in the Police Service. We are opening our doors for better cooperation with the media”.

The President of the Police Officers’ Mess, DCOP Mrs Mina Ayim, said she was touched by the cordial links between the police and the media.
