The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has commissioned a modern poultry farm, ABN Farms, as part of efforts to create jobs for the youth, empower women and contribute to food security in the constituency.
The facility, established with support from the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, was commissioned at a ceremony held at Wesley Grammar School on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The event was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments and Units, Assembly Members, beneficiaries and members of the public.
Job creation
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Aubynn said the establishment of ABN Farms was in line with efforts to promote poultry farming and create sustainable livelihoods, particularly for young people and women.
She said agriculture remained an important avenue for job creation and economic growth and explained that the facility would serve as both a production centre and a practical training hub for modern livestock management.
The MP said she would continue to collaborate with the Municipal Assembly to initiate development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents in the constituency.
Assembly support
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Adamu Musah Kalamu, commended the MP for the initiative.
He described the project as an example of responsive and collaborative leadership and said the Assembly was committed to supporting initiatives that would benefit residents.
He said the Assembly, through its Department of Agriculture, would provide the necessary technical support to ensure the sustainability and expansion of the facility.
Chicks distributed
The ceremony ended with the cutting of the tape to officially commission the facility, followed by the presentation of day-old chicks, known as Nkoko nkitinkiti, to selected farmers in the municipality.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the MP and the MCE for the intervention and pledged to properly maintain and utilise the facility.
