Education will remain a top priority of the government of President John Dramani Mahama, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Musah Kalamu Adamu, has said.
He said the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly would continue to invest in educational infrastructure to improve access to quality education and provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning across the municipality.
Mr Adamu gave the assurance on Monday, July 27, during the commissioning of a two-storey, four-unit kindergarten (KG) classroom block with a 10-seater water closet (WC) toilet facility for the Darul Hadith Islamic School at Darkuman.
Infrastructure boost
The new facility, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), was completed within three months as part of the Assembly's efforts to improve educational infrastructure and address classroom shortages in the municipality.
Presenting the technical brief, the Municipal Works Engineer, Ing. Awuah Asare, said the project was undertaken to reduce overcrowding and bridge the infrastructure gap at the school.
He added that the Assembly remained committed to improving teaching and learning facilities in all schools within the municipality, including mission and Islamic schools. Call for maintenance.
Mr Adamu urged the management of the Darul Hadith Islamic School to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility to enable it to serve generations of pupils.
He said sustained investment in educational infrastructure was critical to improving learning outcomes and expanding access to quality education.
Furniture donation
To complement the project, the Assembly donated more than 100 dual desks and chairs to fully furnish the new kindergarten block and enhance teaching and learning.
Appreciation
The Headmistress of Darul Hadith Islamic School expressed appreciation to the government and the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly for the intervention.
She said the new classroom block and furniture would significantly improve teaching and learning, provide a better environment for pupils and help boost enrolment.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Director of Education, heads of departments, traditional leaders, leaders of the Zongo community, Assembly Members, the management of the school, parents, pupils and residents of Alafia.
