75 Prostitutes, thieves arrested in police raid at Nungua
Seventy-five suspected commercial sex workers and thieves have been arrested in a police swoop carried out at Nungua and its environs in Accra last Tuesday.

The suspects were 33 females alleged to be commercial sex workers, and 42 males suspected to be mobile phone snatchers, pickpockets and robbers.
Those arrested were aged 13 to 32.
The suspects were arrested at drinking spots,a brothel and a market.
Three brothers, identified as Daniel Atiapa, Richard Atiapa and Francis Atiapa, were also arrested for operating a brothel which housed some of the suspects.
Caught in the act
According to the police, some of the commercial sex workers were arrested while engaging in sex with their male patrons.
Used tissue paper, condoms, various sums of money, mobile phones, shoes and clothes were some of the items retrieved from the suspects.
Briefing journalists, the Kpeshie Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Victor Gyan-Kyereko, said the operation, which began at 10:30p.m. last Tuesday, was to rid the area of prostitutes and armed robbers.
Residents’ complaints
Mr Gyan-Kyereko said the exercise was carried out as a result of the numerous complaints residents had made about activities of the prostitutes and robbers in the area.
“The police also had a tip-off that some of the places we raided were assembling points for gangs to plan their operations,” he said.
He disclosed that some of the sex workers were hawkers who sold on the streets during the day and operated as prostitutes at night.
Mr Gyan-Kyereko said some of the sex workers said they charged GH¢20 for a quickie and GH¢50 for spending the night with a patron.
