30 Ambulances do not meet specifications : Segbefia

The Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia, yesterday told Parliament that the Ministry of Health (MoH) was unable to use 30 out of the 200 ambulances it had imported into the country.

That, he said, was because the vehicles did not meet the specifications of the ministry.

Mr Segbefia said as a result, the ministry had stopped the distribution of the ambulances.

The minister was responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Atebubu/Amantin, Mr Sanja Nanja, on when the Atebubu-Amantin District Hospital would be provided with an ambulance.

He said a team of experts would leave the country this month for the ambulance manufacturing company to inspect the rest of the ambulances before their shipment into the country.

Minority reaction
The Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) expressed dissatisfaction at the development.

They questioned why due diligence was not done by the MoH to ensure that the vehicles met its specifications before the shipment
