They are Nana Kwadwo Tano Bosomfuor, 27, believed to be the one who provided protection for the group who caused mayhem in the town; Amoako Stephen, 17; and Baba Ackah, 32.

The suspects, who were given a provisional charge of murder, will reappear before the court on August 24, 2015.

Five other arrests

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police Alhaji Mahama Arhin, told the Daily Graphic that five more persons who had been arrested in connection with the shooting incident were yet to be put before court.

They are Gideon Afrifa, Amadu Salifu, Enoch Owusu, Richard Amponsah and Thomas Opoku.

Alhaji Arhin explained that the five were arrested for possessing firearms without authority and harbouring criminals.

“Even though some of them have documents covering their arms, the documents have expired,” he stated.

He said on interrogation, those arrested for possessing firearms said they did so to defend the palace of Nana Baffuor Asare II, one of the two chiefs in the town who owes allegiance to the Golden Stool of Ashanti.
