The first driver was fined  for not having a warning triangle and a fire extinguisher in his car while the other was fined  for not covering his truck  loaded with  sand.

The two pleaded guilty to the offences and were convicted on their own plea by the court presided over by Mr William Boampong and were fined Ghc 500.00 each or in default go to jail for three months.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Mrs H.A Acheampong, the two were arrested during an operation supervised by the Regional  Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nathan Kofi Boakye on the Kumasi-Accra highway.

She said they were arrested at Aprade, a section of the Kumasi-Accra road, and a search on the first driver’s car revealed that he did not have a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle while the second driver who was in charge of a truck loaded with sand  failed to cover it.

The operation was part of measures  by the police  to check the high incidence of  indiscipline on the roads and to ensure that drivers complied with  road traffic regulations.
