10 Complete training in handling water treatment problems

Ten people have been inducted into the Association of Water Treatment Professionals (AWTP) after undergoing training in handling water treatment problems, with a call on them to do their best to protect water bodies in the country.

The Director of Water at the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr Fred Addai, who made the call at the graduation and induction of the water treatment technologists in Accra, also charged them to safeguard water resources.

Training


The one-week training programme was aimed at building the capacity of the water treatment professionals.


It was organised by Tovila Water Solutions, a water solutions consultancy firm that specialises in research and water treatment and engineering services, in partnership with the Company for Educational Advancement, USA.


Among other skills, they were given intensive advanced practical training on the techniques and skills for handling water treatment problems.

Water leakage


Speaking at the induction ceremony, Mr Addai advised the trainees against doing shoddy work and impressed on them to be professional at all times.


He said the leakage of major water treatment pipes usually resulted in waste of thousands of gallons of teated water.
A former Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Mr Philip Gyawu, who presented certificates of honour to the trainees, congratulated them on completing the course.
