Youth Foundation intiates building project.

“With the commitment my husband and I have to ensure that every child of school-going-age accesses free quality basic education which starts from kindergarten to the Senor High School, I wish to say that I am more than ready to assist this effort,” she pledged.

The President of the Okaikwei Youth Foundation, Mr Rester Dogboe, said education was the most precious asset that any nation could give to its citizenry. It was in that direction that the Foundation was embarking on the project.

He noted with regret the high level of children of who were out of the classroom. According to him, the gesture was expected to help in the government’s bid to provide access for all children to gain education.

Close to 600,000 pupils of school-going-age in Ghana are out of the classroom, according to the latest report released by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The situation is largely a result of poor infrastructure and teachers at the basic level of the country’s educational sector, the report concluded.

Mr Dogboe said such statistics were scary and must be a cause for worry among Ghanaians. He called for more support from corporate organisations and benevolent individuals to come to the aid of the foundation to ensure the speedy completion of the project.

He was particularly grateful to the wife of the NPP flag bearer for the lead role she’d shown in supporting the initiative.
