Yawbofokrom Primary School gets new classroom block
The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly has constructed a six-unit classroom block for the pupils of the Yawbofokrom Municipal Assembly Primary School.
The project was constructed at the cost of GH¢420,758.56 and funded from the District Development Facility (DDF).

It was awarded in September 2017, following the complete collapse of the old classroom block during a rainstorm.
The six-unit classroom block also includes offices, a store, staff common room, a six-seater toilet and urinal, as well as a computer library.
In addition, the assembly has awarded a contract for the supply of 150 dual desks, teachers' tables and chairs, library tables and chairs, cupboards and shelves at the cost of GH¢82, 224.90 to furnish the facility.
Educational logistics
Speaking at the inauguration of the facility, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Dormaa Central, Mr Drissa Ouattara, called on community members to report teachers who absent themselves from classes for the necessary action to be taken against them.
He indicated that majority of children, especially those in the rural areas, were facing challenges in their education.
According to him, either the children did not have basic infrastructure , studied in very deplorable structures or lacked basic teaching and learning materials.
Mr Ouattara emphasised the need to harness the energies and resources of all stakeholders to make quality education accessible to all children of school age in the municipality.
“It is precisely for this reason that we appreciate the role of the churches, private institutions and organisations in their contribution towards the transformation of education in the country”.
Irresponsible parenting
Mr Ouattara expressed concern about the high rate of irresponsible parenting in the municipality, which he said had led to increasing cases of juvenile delinquency.
It is common to see minors engaged in alcoholism and other deviant behaviours, he noted and called on parents to take their role of bringing up their children seriously.
Free SHS policy
Mr Ouattara said government was aware of the challenges confronting the implementation of the Free SHS policy and urged all stakeholders to support the government in its quest to address the challenges to help provide quality education.
Quality education
For his part, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, said the project was undertaken in fulfilment of a promise to the people of the area after the old structure of the school collapsed.
According to him, it was the vision of the government to ensure quality education and ensure that all children were enrolled in school up to the SHS level.
Mr Agyemang-Manu commended the MCE and all those who took interest in the construction of the project and challenged the teachers to give of their best to develop the capabilities of pupils and students in the area.
He advised parents to take the education of their children seriously and support teachers in the community to provide quality education for the children in the area.
