Rotary clubs donate to Adjiringanor basic school

The Rotary Club of Accra Legon East and the Provisional Interact Club of the Ghana International School last Saturday made a donation to the Adjiringanor AdMA Basic School in Accra.

The Rotary club presented a library valued GH¢ 30,000 and the Interact Club donated a 2200 litre polytank.

This was to provide service to humanity and the communities in which the clubs operate.

The President of the Rotary club of Accra Legon East, Mr Richard Appiah Otoo, said they searched through Legon and Adijringanor area and found that the Adijringanor AdMA Basic School had brilliant pupils but lacked well-equipped infrastructure.

He said the library was a vital resource for the utility of the teachers and pupils to receive constant renewal of knowledge to build their lives.

“This library must be a beginning; the kids must be allowed to borrow books to read at home and on holidays,” he said.

Mr Appiah pledged to provide the necessary support to the school.

The President of the Provisional Interact Club of the Ghana International School,Ms Pearl Donkor, said the donation was to make a significant assistance to the school by supporting the school’s water system and expressed her hope that the polytank would be kept under good condition to encourage the club to provide the school with another project.

The headmistress of the Adijringanor Junior High School said a library was a centre of a school, available for reading, studying and references purpose to build the knowledge of both teachers and pupils.

She said the school had a population of about 1,200 pupils and was faced with limited infrastructure.

“The school has been without a library since its establishment 30 years ago, and therefore, we are grateful to Rotary club” she said.

She also appealed to the club and other stakeholders to take up other areas such as providing a school wall, toilet facility, school canteen and many others.

She commended the club for the donation and pledged to keep the books under good condition.
