Pioneer students of Family Health Medical School begin elective rotation
Pioneer students who have successfully completed their final Part II examinations at the Family Health Medical School, Ghana’s premier private medical school, have proceeded on their elective clinical rotation within and outside the country.
Fifteen of the students were placed in university hospitals in the United States of America, United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany and Nigeria, while 15 others were placed in some regional and general hospitals in Ghana.

The elective clinical rotation allows students to get more experience in work environments or subspecialties they are interested in.
The elective rotation will last one year after which the students will be ushered into the final year of the medical training programme.
Sharing experience
A statement from the Family Health Medical School said some of the pioneer students are at the University of Michigan, one of Family Health Medical School collaborating universities in the United States, while some are attached to the Volta River Authority Hospital at Akosombo.
"It is expected that the students would compare and share their foreign and local experiences with one another on completion of their elective rotation, which in a way would promote the transfer of knowledge among them," the statement said.
Postgraduate studies
Commenting on the exercise, the President of the University College, Prof. E. Y. Kwawukume, told the Daily Graphic that some of the students had been earmarked for postgraduate studies at the Family Health University College on completion.
He said the College was preparing for the postgraduate programme.
"This, indeed, would be a major feat in the history of the institution, which progressively is gaining recognition within the sub-Sahara African region for offering comprehensive medical training to students," he added.
