Okaikoi education office gets support

The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Dakoa Newman, has donated some items to the Okaikoi South Education Directorate to facilitate teaching and learning in the area.

The items included 150 buckets of paint, 100 pieces of led bulbs, 4,500 exercise books, 12,000 pieces of pencils and seven boxes of chalk.

During the presentation of the items in Accra last Monday, Ms Newman said the importance of quality education could not be overemphasised and that most of the schools in the area needed maintenance.

Support

The donation, she said, was to support the education directorate to give the schools new look to encourage both students and teachers to improve on teaching and learning activities.

“To inculcate the culture of maintenance and cleanliness in the children, we want to give the schools a facelift for the children to appreciate cleanliness and ensure that they keep their various surroundings and society clean,” she said.

Appreciation

The Accra Metro Director of Education, Mr Stephen Abamfo, received the items and expressed appreciation for the kind gesture, saying “Ms Newman has been doing well as far as education is concerned.”

He assured the MP that his outfit, the pupils and teachers would make good use of the items.

“We will make good use of these items to help improve teaching and learning outcomes in this area,” he stated.
