NGO launches book on career courses

The rest are Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation, Human Service, Information Technology, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, Retail and Wholesalers Sakes and Service, Scientific Research, Engineering and Mathematics, Transportation, Distribution and Logistics and Health Science.

 Dr Tettey, who is a former Lecturer at the Department of Publishing Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah Science and Technology (KNUST), said he derived his motivation from what he termed as facts of life, personal observation and studies and issues of national importance.

“ When it comes to students making choices of programmes of study in our universities, they go through a lot of difficulties. Some of these difficulties have to do with their little knowledge about the programmes of study in tertiary institutions and how related these programmes are with their interest,” he said.

Reviewing the book, the Associate Professor of Educational Measurement of Statistics at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), said the book covered 310 careers that exposed students to variety of career paths available

According to him, the books would prepare students to choose wisely from variety of jobs and vocations, adding that “ it  will facilitate career development in all students”.

“It will expose learners to the different forms of education required for different occupations. It will direct choice of subjects and related needed skills,” he said.

Launching the book, the General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alfred Kodua, recommended the book for educational institutions in the country, particularly JHS and SHS since they “are mostly the ones who struggle with choosing careers”.
